KEY HIGHLIGHTS

- Payouts support rising living costs and will go directly into bank accounts.
- Payments roll out from 5 to 22 December, depending on bank setup.
If you’ve been feeling the pinch at the hawker centre or even at your usual FairPrice run, here’s a bit of relief coming your way. About three million Singapore citizens will receive up to S$600 in cash this December, all thanks to the ongoing Assurance Package meant to ease rising living costs.
The payout is part of the enhanced support first announced in Budget 2023, which also includes CDC Vouchers, MediSave top-ups, and utilities rebates. Think of it as a year-end boost for households from Jurong East to Pasir Ris, especially for those in the lower- and middle-income groups.

Who Will Receive the S$600 Cash Payout?
Here’s the thing — the payout isn’t a flat one-size-fits-all distribution. The amount you get depends on your assessable income and how many properties you own. According to Govbenefits and CNA, citizens aged 21 and above in 2026 will receive between S$100 and S$600.
So if you’re supporting a family or dealing with higher bills, the Assurance Package gives you a little breathing room. And yes, this is the same scheme that hands out those popular CDC Vouchers you often use at your favourite heartland shops and mama shops.
When Will the Payments Come In?
Let’s break down the timeline because no one likes guessing when money will appear in their account.
1. PayNow-NRIC (Fastest) — By 5 December 2025
If your NRIC is linked to PayNow, you’re in luck. You’ll get the payout first.
The Ministry of Finance has already encouraged everyone to link their NRIC by 23 November 2025 for smooth processing.
2. GIRO (If PayNow Isn’t Linked) — By 16 December 2025
If you have a DBS, POSB, OCBC, or UOB account registered with the Government, the money will reach you through GIRO.
Just make sure your bank details are updated on the Govbenefits website by 29 November 2025.
3. GovCash — By 22 December 2025
If you don’t have a valid bank account, no worries. You’ll still receive your payout through GovCash, which can be collected at OCBC ATMs using your NRIC and the GovCash QR code.
Singaporeans will also get SMS notifications from the official gov.sg Sender ID, both before and after the payout lands — so don’t fall for random scam messages pretending to be “government”.
Why This Assurance Package Matters Right Now
Prices everywhere have been creeping up. Hawker food, groceries, utilities — you name it. These payouts are meant to support households facing day-to-day pressure from inflation. Even S$600 can ease the load during the December period when many families are preparing for the new school year.
Plus, when you pair this cash support with CDC Vouchers 2025, FairPrice vouchers, and other schemes, families get a more complete cushion against rising costs.
How to Make Sure You Don’t Miss Your Payout
1. Link Your NRIC to PayNow
This is the fastest way to receive the cash.
Just log in to your bank app -> PayNow -> Link NRIC.
2. Update Your Bank Details on Govbenefits
Especially important if you switched banks recently.
3. Look Out for Official gov.sg Messages
You’ll receive notifications before and after payment.
Always double-check the Sender ID — scams are everywhere.
