If you or someone in your family is trying to boost retirement savings, the Matched Retirement Savings Scheme (MRSS) is something you don’t want to miss. The government matches your RA cash top-ups every year up to $2,000. But first, you need to know whether you’re eligible. Here’s the thing: CPF doesn’t make you dig around to figure out your MRSS status. Your eligibility is shown right inside your Retirement Dashboard, and it’s updated automatically every year.cpf matched retirement savings scheme eligibility
Check Through Your Retirement Dashboard
The quickest method is inside your CPF Retirement Dashboard.
Log in with Singpass and scroll to the section called “Matching grant for cash top-ups.”
This panel gives you three important indicators:
1. Eligibility Status
You’ll see a clear tag like “Eligible for 2025.”
No guessing, no forms. CPF updates this automatically every year.
2. Top-Ups Made This Year
This shows how much you’ve already topped up that qualifies for the matching grant.
If it shows $0, it simply means no MRSS-eligible top-up has been made yet.
3. How Much More You Can Top Up
This tells you the remaining amount you can add before year-end to unlock the full $2,000 matching grant.
What You See When You Enter a Top-Up Amount
When you start making a top-up to your own Retirement Account, CPF immediately displays two things:
• Your MRSS eligibility confirmation
Example message:
“You are eligible for the Matched Retirement Savings Scheme. Estimated matching grant: $2,000.”
• Your estimated tax relief
CPF also shows your tax benefit for that top-up.
Example:
“Estimated tax relief: $3,000.”
So before you proceed, you already know what your grant and tax relief will look like.
When You Top Up for Someone Else (Loved One / Parent / Spouse)
The screen looks similar, but the details reflect your recipient, not you.
CPF will show:
- Your recipient’s MRSS eligibility
Example:
“Your recipient is eligible for the Matched Retirement Savings Scheme. Your cash top-up will enable your recipient to receive an estimated matching grant of $1,200.00.” - Your estimated tax relief for helping them
Example:
“The estimated tax relief on your cash top-up is $3,800.00.”
This is helpful if you’re supporting a parent or spouse who has low RA savings and can benefit from the government matching.
